The Crush of Twain

Arm of Symon is a hall within the Towerhouse of the Krekid Jenjada where some 400 cycles ago, the Nactis champion, Symon sealed an ancient gateway by allowing himself to be taken through the Rot Gate by his foe, then thrusting his arm back through into his own world and casting his final spell which obliterated the standing gate pillars, severing his arm at the threshold and sealing the rot gate passage for good.  The site had become a shrine where the skeletal arm and hand remained encased in an exquisite, gilded, crystal case on a plinth where the old Rot Gate once stood.  The Rot gate was an ancient relic from a dead age when the people of Nactis forged a truce and bond with a reviled enemy;   Krink Vorpide, the creatures who grow through the void and dimensions by threading and breeding upon impossibly vast webs and tendrils of rotting, decaying star mold.  Their kind are great olden kin of the primordial beings who seeded intelligent life into the dimension of Twain, though not the same.  Their method and creed are those that waste away and feed upon the intelligent life they contact; slowly bleeding the joyous, fertile life from systems over their long life cycles, leaving behind the befouled, whitened strands and threads like the hair of an aged Mega God’s head, left to droop and desiccate under its massive tonnage of bloat and contagion. Their original form is alike to a gelatinous sea organism whose entirety is comprised of linked sentient cells which may break apart into discreet, singular beings, each retaining an aspect of the greater whole no matter how far away. That gelatinous form is their all-important ingredient which they may build all manner of substance, matter; fixed or fluid, static or mobile, seemingly sentient or dull as a stone or wall, though always thinking and always present in the mind of the Krink Vorpide Massive.”  Scribe Halliot Froam.  “Champion Symon’s Cycle”.
